Welcome to my first outfits of the week recap! Now, to be honest, these aren’t all from one week in my life. These outfits are over the course of a few weeks. But I think they can give you a feel for what a real life SAHM wears day-to-day. And a modest mom, at that! I hope that these outfits will inspire you to take out clothes that you already have in your closet and style them in different ways. I don’t buy new clothes all the time, and I don’t think you need to, either. My hope in sharing my outfits with you all is that you will find inspiration in what you already have rather than desire for something new. So let’s get into it!
Outfit #1: Doctor’s Appointment
Let’s get something out of the way here early on: I almost NEVER wear heels now that I have little kids. If I wear heels, it’s for a few hours at synagogue or for a date night with my husband. I need to be able to chase after my kiddos at the drop of a hat - and I’m not risking my ankles for some cute shoes! So why was I wearing heels this day, you ask? I had a dental appointment. Dental appointment = alone time = I can wear heels. So I took advantage of the situation!
I paired my heels - which are pretty comfortable, by the way - with a pretty midi skirt I’ve had for years. I love it because it’s feminine, stretchy, easy to wear, and perfect for all stages of life, including pregnancy and postpartum. I have been really enjoying wearing jean jackets lately because they make every outfit feel just a bit more intentional, so I threw that on over a maroon shirt that matched my skirt.
This whole outfit was really simple, but with the addition of the heels and the jean jacket, the whole look felt slightly more elevated than it would have otherwise. And it transitioned easily for the rest of the day when I slipped out of my heels and into my sneakers.
Outfit #2: Travel Day
My family recently visited my husband’s parents in New York, and that meant we hopped on a plane for the first time in a year! I was super excited to fly with our son (he’s two-and-a-half) because he loves anything that moves. He loves trucks, cars, and, you guessed it, airplanes! I couldn’t wait to share this experience with him now that he’s old enough to understand what’s happening. If you’re flying with a child of a similar age any time soon, I highly recommend checking out if your local library has the book Five Trucks. It talks about all of the different trucks that work on the tarmac and we had the best time spotting them after reading about them. We are also a screen-free family, so going on an airplane with my kiddos is a ton of fun. We read books, play with toys, do puzzles, and just spend time together in a really focused way.
With all of that in mind, we had a somewhat lengthy travel day with the drive to the airport, the flight, and then the drive to our location. I needed to be comfortable and ready to move. But that doesn’t always mean you have to wear a sweatsuit or leggings! A pair of jeans, a comfortable pair of sneakers, and a simple sweatshirt to keep me warm on the plane made up the perfect outfit. I threw on a hat to wear once we were there and my crossbody belt-bag is my constant companion.
It’s so easy to resort to athleisure when you’re flying, and I get it! But sometimes it’s nice to feel like you’re wearing real clothes while you’re traveling - and I find that it’s a tad more respectful to your fellow passengers and the flight crew.
Outfit #3: Outing With Family
Does this outfit look familiar? That’s because I repeated a few of the pieces from the last outfit! We traveled with only a few outfits since we were staying with my in-laws, so we could do laundry. I much prefer to re-wear clothing than to pack a huge suitcase, and jeans are such an easy piece to mix and match.
On this day, we visited the lighthouse in Montauk! It’s absolutely stunning and I was brave enough to climb to the top. I say brave because I sometimes have a small fear of heights, so I always push myself to face that fear when I can. I wore my comfortable sneakers so I could keep up with the family, and did you notice a new hat? That’s because the hat I wore on the flight broke on the way, so I had to get a new one. I like wearing baseball caps to keep the sun off my face, and I liked the addition to my outfit. Lastly, let’s talk about this top. It might look like a simple white tee, but it actually has an asymmetrical hem and a zipper on the side which makes it super flattering!
A look like this is incredibly simple, but there’s nothing wrong with a classic pair of jeans and a white tee. And it’s perfectly kid-friendly!
Outfit #4: Date Night
I loved this outfit and so I had to share it, even though my husband wasn’t really ready when the photo was taken - so, with his permission, I am sharing my look and cropping him out. Don’t judge me! 😂 My mother-in-law was kind enough to take me shopping while we were visiting and together we found this entire look. I’ve been looking for a pair of white jeans for YEARS, and these were the perfect fit. I don’t prefer a skinny pair of white jeans, and so these cropped wide-leg pants made my heart so happy. I found this beautiful gray wrap sweater to pair it with, and it makes me feel like a ballerina. Lastly, I brought these shoes from home and I’m in love with them. They are a blue and white pair of heels - and I know you can’t see the whole shoe in the picture, but I wear them any chance I get.
This outfit is perfect for date night because 1) white pants are off-limits with children’s hands, 2) a nice sweater is another risk factor with kiddos, and 3) heels don’t keep me mobile enough as a SAHM. This is why date nights are so fun for me - I love fashion and I love makeup, and this is my opportunity to express my style!
Outfit #5: In My Chessy Era
Have you ever seen The Parent Trap? Well, the character Chessy has been making a real fashion comeback lately, and I channeled my inner Chessy when I chose this outfit.
This is a real day in my life as a SAHM - I’ve got my comfortable sneakers on, a pair of neutral pants, a black shirt, and a long jean button-down on. This is my “get me messy, I’m ready” outfit. Every single thing I’m wearing is easy to throw in the wash and is meant for little hands covered in dirt, snacks, or paint. These are my favorite outfits because I can be totally in it with my kids and not care a whit what gets on my clothing. And I still feel cute! I’m not just in leggings and a big tee - this is a real look with real style. I can just crawl on the floor and run through the park without worrying.

Love the doctors and travel outfits! I’m 33 years old and just this past year practicing modesty seriously for the first time. It’s been a journey but I’m absolutely loving it, and feeling more feminine and beautiful than ever! Thanks for sharing your examples with us, I’ve enjoyed your outfit/modesty videos on YouTube in the past so I’m glad to see it continue here.
Thanks for sharing and inspiring us moms to step it up a bit without being overburdensome/naggy. First time reading your substack. I never joined your old one because you had your videos on YouTube. Now that you are moving away from YT, I had to subscribe. Your tone in writing is similar to your speaking flow, so I was able to hear your voice in my head as I read which was nice. Looking forward to your future posts.
